WeJot vs Google Forms

Google Forms is difficult to fault at the job it was designed for: a free form, a link, and answers in a spreadsheet. WeJot addresses the stage that follows, when the instrument no longer fits the template, when the study requires a defined population rather than whoever can be reached, or when interviews are needed alongside the survey.

Free tier and cost Question types Logic Sample and interviews

The 30-second verdict

The two tools differ on three axes: cost, the ceiling of the instrument, and where respondents come from. Google Forms is free with no response cap, and is limited to its built-in question types and section branching. WeJot generates question types and logic as code, orders sample for a defined audience, and continues into AI interviews on the same respondents.

  • Cost: Google Forms is free with a Google account and does not cap responses. WeJot has a free tier and usage-based pricing for sample and interviews.
  • Instrument: Google Forms ships about a dozen built-in question types and section branching. WeJot generates question types and logic as code, so the design is not limited to that library.
  • Logic: anything beyond answer-based section jumps requires Apps Script in Google Forms. WeJot executes conditions, randomisation, dynamic visibility and piping from a plain-language description.
  • Sample: Google Forms has no panel, so respondents must be recruited separately. WeJot orders sample from its own and connected panels inside the same project.
  • Interviews: Google Forms has no qualitative layer. WeJot runs AI voice, video and text interviews on the same sample as the survey.

Why this comparison exists

Google Forms is the most widely used survey tool in the world, and the reasons are sound. It is free, requires no procurement, produces a shareable link within a minute, and deposits responses in Sheets where any team member can work with them.

The limitation is scope rather than quality. The instrument is bounded by roughly a dozen question types and section branching. There is no panel, so the reachable population is your own network. There is no qualitative layer. Because each form holds a single language, multilingual studies require several forms maintained in parallel by hand.

WeJot begins from a different assumption: the questionnaire is generated as code, so question types, validation, routing and presentation are written to fit the research goal rather than selected from a menu. That also makes available the parts Google Forms does not provide, namely sample for a defined population and AI interviews for the questions a scale cannot answer.

Where the two differ

1

Cost: when free starts to fall short

Google Forms

Google Forms is free with any Google account and does not limit responses. Organisations already on Google Workspace receive it inside a subscription starting at around USD 7 per user per month, with administrative controls; the form product is not sold separately.

WeJot

WeJot is not free at scale, and does not present itself as such. Sample, interviews and AI usage carry a cost, priced per use. The relevant comparison is therefore not one form builder against another, but free collection from an audience you already hold against paid access to a defined population and a qualitative layer.

2

Question types: a fixed library vs generated code

Google Forms

Google Forms offers short answer, paragraph, multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown, linear scale, multiple-choice grid, checkbox grid, date, time, file upload and rating. That covers conventional research, and the editor is fast.

WeJot

WeJot generates the survey page itself, so a question type is implemented rather than selected. Conjoint, MaxDiff, Kano, card sorting, ranked allocation, image hotspots and conditional visual questions can all be produced, with the data structure and analysis contract defined at the same time.

3

Logic: how complex it can get

Google Forms

Google Forms supports answer-based jumps between sections, and repeating sections for a limited set of cases. Anything richer, such as computed scores, cross-question validation or randomised option order, requires Apps Script written against the form.

WeJot

WeJot accepts logic expressed in language: if the respondent chose A and rated question three below 4, jump to the follow-up page and shuffle the options. It executes as code, so complexity is not capped by the number of controls in a panel. The trade-off is that logic lives in code and should be verified with test responses before launch.

4

Respondents: where they come from

Google Forms

Google Forms has no panel. Reach is your mailing list, your community, or a link posted somewhere. For a convenience sample that is often sufficient; for quota-controlled work among hard-to-reach groups it is typically the binding constraint.

WeJot

WeJot orders respondents by audience definition, with quota, screening, location limits and quality controls configured on the same order, and settlement against valid completes. The panel also covers respondents reached through international partners for cross-market studies.

5

Interviews: what is missing

Google Forms

Google Forms has no interview capability. When a study needs reasons rather than counts, the workflow leaves the tool entirely.

WeJot

WeJot runs AI interviews in voice, video and text, with automatic follow-up, resumable sessions and insight reports, and respondents can be recruited from the same panel that answered the survey. Survey findings determine who is worth interviewing rather than recruitment being a matter of instinct.

Why choose WeJot over Google Forms?

The questions that arise most often during an evaluation, answered directly.

A questionnaire that is not limited to a dozen types

Google Forms covers conventional research well, but the instrument is bounded by its built-in types and section branching, and anything richer requires Apps Script. WeJot generates the survey page and its execution code, so conjoint, MaxDiff, Kano, card sorting, ranked allocation and conditional visual questions are implemented to the research goal rather than approximated.

Respondents you do not already have

A form collects from whoever reaches it, which is appropriate for internal work and a hard limit for a study that requires a defined population. WeJot orders respondents by audience definition with quota, screening, location limits and identity checks, settles against valid completes, and presents the price before you order.

Reasons, not only answers

A survey indicates what is happening; it does not explain why. WeJot runs AI voice, video and text interviews on the same sample, so respondents who opt in during the survey can be invited to a deeper conversation, and the findings and recordings arrive in one report.

From one brief to a finished study

Start with the research goal: WeJot generates the questionnaire, orders respondents against a defined audience with quota and screening, runs AI interviews where depth is needed, and reports findings with cross-tabs and traceable evidence, in one project rather than across tools.

Frequently asked

Google Forms is free. What does WeJot add?

Three things, generally: question types and logic beyond what Forms can express, respondents for a population beyond the audience you already reach, and interviews that run on the same sample as the survey. All three are priced per use, with the total visible before you order.

Can we run the simple surveys we currently run in Forms on WeJot?

Yes, and set-up takes about the same time. The difference is that the instrument is generated from a description, so anything previously compromised on becomes available.

Does WeJot import an existing Google Form?

Provide the questions and the logic as text and the agent will rebuild them. Keep an in-flight collection in Forms if you do not want to restart responses.

How are respondents compensated in your panel?

Incentives are included in the per-complete price and settled through the platform, so nothing needs arranging separately. Pricing and quota are configured before you order.

Can a survey and interviews run in one project?

That is the purpose of the product. The survey screens and segments the audience, respondents may opt in to a deeper conversation, and the survey results and interview evidence end up in one report.

WeJot vs Jotform

Jotform is a forms and workflow platform with an unmatched library; WeJot is a research platform. The practical differences are the instrument (generated to the study rather than adapted from a template), the respondents (ordered with quota and quality controls rather than collected from reach), and the analysis (cross-tabs and evidence rather than submission reports).

WeJot vs SurveyMonkey

The differences are commercial and structural rather than cosmetic. SurveyMonkey charges per seat per month and sells panel responses separately per complete; WeJot charges per study and per use. On the instrument, SurveyMonkey exposes a deep library of standard types, while WeJot generates question types and logic as code, including designs a library does not carry.

WeJot vs Typeform

Typeform prices and meters by plan, and its question set is curated around a conversational format. WeJot does not cap responses, generates the instrument as code, orders sample with quota attached, and keeps the interview inside the same project. The two are priced for different jobs, which is what an evaluation should compare.

WeJot vs Listen Labs

The two products differ in scope. Listen Labs is an interview platform: its home page presents no survey product, and its quantitative signal is collected inside the conversation. WeJot runs the survey and the interview as one project, on one sample, with one evidence trail. Where a brief contains both kinds of question, that difference decides the outcome.
